Honeybee Robotics to Open New Office in Greenbelt, MD
Honeybee Robotics, LLC, a leading provider of robotics technology and engineering services, is pleased to announce the opening of its new office in Greenbelt, Maryland.
The facility will focus on engineering and program management, featuring state-of-the-art equipment for rapid hardware development. Following its opening in April 2023, Honeybee plans to grow its local team to 20 people over the next 12 months.
Establishing a team of engineers and program managers nearby NASA’s Goddard Spaceflight Center and the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory will allow Honeybee to provide enhanced support on contracts for Dragonfly and Mars Sample Return Spin Eject Mechanism. The company also looks forward to strengthening relationships with customers in the greater Washington, D.C., area.
“We are thrilled to establish this new office in the Greenbelt area,” said Kiel Davis, President of Honeybee Robotics. “Operating from this location means we can be more responsive to our customers as we work closely with them to develop new technology for the exploration and utilization of space.”
For nearly 40 years, Honeybee Robotics has designed and manufactured advanced robotic systems for the toughest environments on Earth and in space. The company has seen remarkable growth in recent years and, at the start of 2023, reported a year-over-year increase of 40% in sales and 25% in headcount. Honeybee currently has major operations in Colorado and California, both of which recently underwent major expansions to double capacity. Opening the Greenbelt office marks a strategic return to the East Coast only a year after closing its New York City office where Honeybee was founded in 1983.
Honeybee Robotics is looking to fill several job positions at its new location, including in engineering, software development, and project management. “We are looking for the best and brightest to join our Greenbelt team,” said Sarah Tye, Senior Director of Human Resources. “We offer a great compensation and benefits package, a special culture that values work-life balance, and most importantly, the opportunity to work on exciting projects with a fantastic group of people.”
